Yrjö Kukkapuro

Yrjö Kukkapuro is a renowned Finnish furniture designer known for his innovative and influential contributions to modern design. Born in 1933 in Vyborg, Finland, Kukkapuro studied furniture design at the Institute of Applied Arts in Helsinki and later graduated as an interior architect from the University of Art and Design Helsinki.


Kukkapuro's designs are characterized by their functional yet sculptural forms, often incorporating organic shapes and ergonomic considerations. He is particularly known for his groundbreaking work with molded fiberglass and other innovative materials. One of his most iconic designs is the Karuselli lounge chair, created in 1964, which features a distinctive sculptural shape and a swiveling base.


Throughout his career, Kukkapuro has received numerous awards and accolades for his designs, including the prestigious Lunning Prize in 1960 and the Pro Finlandia Medal in 1998. Jio Möbler

Jio Möbler is a Swedish furniture company that specializes in producing high-quality, Scandinavian-inspired designs. The company was founded in 1945 by two brothers, Uno and Osten Kristiansson, in the town of Vittsjö, Sweden. Ib Kofod-Larsen

Ib Kofod-Larsen was a Danish furniture designer known for his elegant and functional mid-century modern designs. Born in 1921 in Denmark, Kofod-Larsen studied at the Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts before establishing his own design studio in 1948.


Kofod-Larsen's designs are characterized by their clean lines, organic forms, and meticulous attention to detail. He often incorporated natural materials such as teak wood and leather into his furniture pieces, creating a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality.


One of Kofod-Larsen's most iconic designs is the "Elizabeth" chair, created in 1956. This lounge chair features a sculptural teak frame and a curved backrest, providing both comfort and visual appeal. The "Seal" chair, designed in 1956, is another notable piece, featuring a distinctive curved backrest resembling a seal's head.


Throughout his career, Kofod-Larsen received numerous awards and accolades for his designs, including the prestigious Danish Furniture Prize in 1951. Kerstin Horlin Holmquist

Kerstin Horlin Holmquist was a Swedish furniture designer and architect. She was born on November 14, 1925, in Stockholm, Sweden, and passed away on January 21, 1997.


Holmquist studied at the School of Interior Design in Stockholm and later at the Royal Institute of Technology. She started her career as an interior designer and worked for various architectural firms before establishing her own design studio in 1952.


Holmquist gained recognition for her innovative and modern furniture designs, which combined functionality with elegance. She was known for her use of clean lines, organic shapes, and high-quality materials. Her designs often featured soft curves and comfortable seating, reflecting her belief that furniture should be both aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to use.


One of Holmquist's most famous designs is the "Paradiset" (Paradise) sofa, which she created in 1956. This iconic piece of furniture is characterized by its curved backrest and armrests, as well as its slender legs. The Paradiset sofa became a symbol of Swedish mid-century modern design and is still highly sought after by collectors today.

Ingemar Thillmark Lacko Armchairs
